Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche’s Dzogchen Retreat - Garrison NY

The Buddha teaches us that we each possess, as our true nature, a pure, all-encompassing wisdom far more profound than we can possibly imagine. Through the practice of Dzogchen, we can come to recognize the unimpeded nature of our own mind and embody our innate compassionate essence. The purpose of the retreat, designed for both beginners and advanced practitioners, is to introduce us to this natural state that has, in fact, always been with us. Rinpoche will then impart simple, yet powerful, guidance that will allow us to train, step by step, in unfolding our innate essence. The Garrison Institute provides a perfect setting for this intensive Dzogchen meditation retreat which will allow retreat participants to be able to bring this practice to life in their everyday experience.

To register, email CNRteachings@gmail.com

Tashi Delek to all Rangjung Yeshe Gomde New York members!

We all are very happy that Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche has identified a piece of land suitable for the establishment of a new Gomde on the East Coast of United States, a 160-acre former dairy farm, located in Walden, Orange County in New York State just 90 minutes north of New York City.

To support Rinpoche's vast aspirations that we purchase and develop this property to help the dharma flourish, a new nonprofit is being formed, called Rangjung Yeshe Gomde New York, and Rinpoche has appointed the board members, listed below.

To accumulate merit, gather positive conditions, and prepare for successful fundraising, everyone is invited to a Tara puja, where we will practice the Tara Sadhana together, with a tsok.

The Bodhisattva's Training in 37 Points - teaching at BWI

  • Blazing Widsom Institute (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Our teacher Ven. Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche recently directed Tulku Sherdor to teach this principal text of mind training, saying it is important for our east coast sangha to study it together.

The rgyal sras lag len so bdun ma, or Bodhisattva's Training in 37 Points, is a classic text by the Kadampa master Ngul Chu Tog Med Zang Po, and is studied in all the traditions as a key to mind training and bodhicitta.  It is an upadesa, a training manual, and not an academic treatise.

Tulku Sherdor has received these instructions from masters of several different lineages, including Kyabje Kalu Rinpoche, Garchen Rinpoche, HH the Dalai Lama, HH Orgyen Kusum Lingpa, and many others.

Date: Saturday Dec. 10 and Sunday Dec. 11
Time: We will start at 10 am on Saturday, to allow people to travel same day if possible, and end by 4 pm on Sunday, for the same reason.

Registration: Please register by December 1 by emailing Ani Sangye Chodron. at gmail dot com. Ani-la will forward a welcome letter with further information to all registrants, and can address any questions.

Cost: There is no fee to attend in person, other than the cost of meals (see below), in keeping with the tradition of bodhicitta.  Offerings to support the continued existence and operation of the dharma center will be accepted with gratitude.

Food: A vegetarian lunch will be offered both days.  Ani Sangye will provide information about that cost.

Online? For those for whom attendance in person is practically impossible, an option to participate online may be offered for a nominal fee of $60.  Please inquire with Ani Sangye and we will keep you posted.

We need a few volunteers to help with organization and management of the program.  In particular, one person to arrive a day early and one to stay a day after, to help with preparations and with closing/clean up.  Several of our usual volunteers are not available this time.  Let Ani-la know right away if you are available and willing to help, to enable a smooth, successful program.

Longchen Nyingtig Ngon Dro practice, part of the daily schedule at Blazing Wisdom, will take place at 7 am.  Please bring your breakfast if you plan to attend those sessions.
